SATURDAY 2 SEPTEMBER - We attended our second Picnic in the Park, but this time as one of two local organisations who were GOLD sponsors of the event.

We were delighted to be invited again and just like last year we had a constant stream of visitors to our stand where you could try out some axe throwing and air rifles. We had a new air rifle range setup this year which worked much better than before - every day's a school day !

Our visitors loved it, and we were rushed off our feet from the moment we started until after we packed away, and such a wide variety of people coming along to try us out. Our youngest axe thrower was just years old (the axe was almost as big as he was !).

We had a visit from a truly lovely lady who sheepishly said she'd never shot an air rifle before, but it quickly become evident that the lovely Jeanette was very well versed in rifles and pistols having been in the Rhodesian Police for 20 years, and was actually a competitive pistol shooter when we were allowed those long forgotten pieces. She was a very energetic 85 years young !

Of course, we would never have been able to do this without help and support from our fantastic members, and they were marvellous - helping to move equipment from the club in the morning, setting up on site at the event, running the day for the local children and adults, and packing away again at the end of the day.

We had some very tired members by the end of the day, but all felt that the effort had been very rewarding and appreciated.

Our second time taking part, and our first time as a sponsor. Platinum sponsor next year !
